BIM for Architecture

BIM is a process for combining information and technology to produce a digital representation of a project that integrates data from many sources. It is a process enabled by technology and not a single software package.

BIM is value creating collaboration through the entire life-cycle of an asset, underpinned by the creation, collation and exchange of shared 3D models and intelligent, structured data attached to them.

For architects, BIM is no longer the future of the construction industry. It has become the standard, helping architectural practices work in a more efficient environment leading to both cost and time savings.

The shift from 2D to 3D models rich in information has proven to be crucial in the overall design process.

BIM benefits for architects:

  • It provides more efficient and enhanced design collaboration leading to time and cost savings
  • It creates an overall better project management through coordination reviews
  • It improves cost estimating
  • Allows the identification of the (EIR) employer’s information requirements from the early stages
  • Improves the way information is shared between different disciplines
  • Improves productivity
